He walked, down from the sidewalk
where the cars soared by, flowing like water
and his mind wandered to the road left behind him
of memories haunting him every step of the way
But where will you run when your road turns to water
with billboards hanging from hinges above
where would you turn when you face a dead end
would you just keep on walking?
I would understand
The sign said something about taking a left turn
but he was distracted by a light in the distance
just a tiny speck against close to a million
displaying nothing but distraction and hate
And where would you run when your road's set on fire
with billboards still hanging from hinges above
where would you turn when you face a dead end
would you just keep on walking?
I would understand
And where would you run when your roads turn to ashes
with billboards still hanging from hinges above
where would you turn when you face a dead end
would you stop in your footsteps?
I would understand

Ships Have Sailed Before
02:45

There are things that I would never say
don't forget them as I go away
even if you fail to see the point
And there's a sad streak about these sunny days
and the moment that these shattered rays
of sunlight hit my face I will go down
To comprehend the situation as it falters
but no man is left behind
to hide behind the conflict in a way to ease your mind
and as we sail into uncharted waters
we're leaving bodies in our wake
I hope you know what's all at stake
And there are things that I will not forget
and moments that I most regret
like leaving you there, standing on the shore
And the sad part about that sunny day
was that I couldn't feel the shattered rays
of sunlight on my face as I went down
To comprehend the situation as it falters
but no man is left behind
to hide behind the conflict in a way to ease your mind
and as we sail into uncharted waters
we're leaving bodies in our wake
Well, I hope you know what's all at stake
but I can't reprimand your actions
I can't afford distractions now
and I don't want this thing reality has forced on me
so I hope that you'll once see, what's become of you and me

Beer, Chocolate & Chips
03:39
|

Caesar sent a letter
to the senators in Rome
to make 'em all aware
that he was dealing with some pesky Gauls
and the Belgians were the bravest
the bravest of them all
but was that just to make sure
that he wouldn't take the fall?
For his political career
was already in shambles
and the senate wouldn't take
anymore of his rambles
about victory and glory
in the battles that he'd fought
and he had won
Meanwhile all the banks in Rome
are making all the big ones
'cause Caesar's on a spending spree
and he's spared no expense
on the campaign that ruined him
and made him look the fool
by Jupiter he called out
how could life be so cruel
So he tried to save it now
by some clever lying
he was convinced that his way
he could keep his cause from dying
and what seemed like a compliment to Belgians
was just part of some politician's plans
But we have beer, chocolate and chips
and if that's not something to be proud of
than i don't know what is
yeah, we have beer, chocolate and chips
which ties us all together more
than any sort of shady politics
In 1302, the French were knocking at our door
and we did something great
that was never seen before
we trashed the Frenchman army
with cunning and with wits
but the next year, they just came back
to blow us all to bits
Still we talk about that day,
with feelings of grandeur
which after a mere 700 hundred years
makes me wonder
have we done nothing more
than fighting in some ancient wars
that's actually worth mentioning at all?
Well, we have beer, chocolate and chips
and if that's not something to be proud of
than I don't know what is
yeah, we have beer, chocolate and chips
which ties us all together more
than any sort of shady politics
And with politicians burning bridges...
and burying the ashes
whilst they divide their riches
made by sitting on their asses
I think it's clear to see the fissure struck between us
hosted by fear and lies
'cause ignorance can grow into hate
when provided with the right state of mind
And it's all part of our eternal struggle
for identity
But if war and hate is what we are
I think we're taking it too far
'cause all that I can see
is one big, crazy family raised by
Beer, chocolate and chips
and if that's not something to be proud of
then I don't know what is
yeah, we have beer, chocolate and chips
which ties us all together more then any
of the wars we fought
ties us all together more then any sort
of shady politics

Running
03:31
|
|||
This road stretches out for miles
and I can't see the destination
and I'm in need of confirmation
that I'm heading the right way
The path was clear until moments ago
when it fled across the horizon
I need to catch my breath,
it's time to pick up the pace
Always moving forward towards the thin line of light,
that's still left over from when it was bright
footsteps echoing into the night
kicking up dirt I'm leaving this path behind
Panic takes a hold, I'm chilled to the bone
as a sound like no other pounds onto stone
all the stories that I once believed,
are coming back to me,
And as I run on this road
they all come to life
and I'm tired of running
but it's how I'll survive
I'm out of breath and beaten down
but they won't catch me alive
and I'm tired of running
but I'm pretty sure it's how I'll survive
Horror or fairy tale, legend or myth
it doesn't really matter when you're knee-deep in shit
'cause the focus has been lifted from the matters at hand
you should pick a side, say where you stand
we're leaning on the edge of extinction, bombs in our hands
and you really need to pick a side, so say where you stand
And as I run on this road
they all come to life
and I'm tired of running
but it's how I'll survive
We're at a crossroads
and the decision will be final
to determine who will fight
and if this will be our downfall
So without a moment's hesitation
I gave into despair
and as I ran in the opposite direction
blood on my hands
a voice carried out into the night, shouting
say where you stand
And as I run on this road
they all come to life
and I'm tired of running
but it's how I'll survive
I'm out of breath and beaten down
but they won't catch me alive
and I'm tired of running
so tired of running
As I run on this road
they all come to life
and I'm tired of running
but it's how I'll survive
I'm out of breath and beaten down
but they won't catch me alive
and I'm tired of running
but I'm pretty sure it's how I'll survive

Everything I Want
02:46
|
|||
It's irrational, but I still have a fear
of the unknown
and that makes things harder
if you can't work it out if you're on your own
No minute passes by without the simple thought
that giving up on battles
is harder if you've actually fought
And I want to scream at the world
lay out all their faulty plans
make 'em realize they're not doing the best they can
But I can't complain cause I've got everything I want
and made the same mistakes as everyone around
I can't complain cause I've got everything I want
assuming all of this is working out
It's come to mind, that this paradoxical
way of life has claimed its toll
see, I've pondered quite a bit about
what's considered right and wrong
And I think i figured out what makes us all believe
the things that we get handed to us are all we can achieve
Now we've been thrown to the ground
rubble is all that remains
of dreams we won't make real
and lives we'll never change
But I can't complain cause I've got everything I want
and made the same mistakes as everyone around
I can't complain cause I've got everything I want
assuming all of this is working out
And I want to scream at the world
lay out all their faulty plans
make 'em realize they're not doing the best they can
But I can't complain, 'cause I've got everything I want
and made the same mistakes as everyone around
but I can't complain, 'cause I've got everything I want
assuming someone's listening, we simply won't gain anything
by screaming we've got everything we want

The Reason We're Trying
02:59
|
|||
It seems the world has passed me by
and even though I cannot see why I should care
I can't deny trying to find the reason why
I don't get this modern age, don't get these modern ways
we're all just trying to get by
while breaking other people's backs across the globe
We gave up hope, when we decided it was right
to trust the men, who'd sell their mothers to survive
and now we're struggling with a sense of inner-doubt
confusing us to disbelief, resulting into shouts and screams
And now we look upon the face of the man who betrayed
the last remainders of hope, and lived to tell the tale
what keeps him from dying is what keeps us from trying
to find out what happened at all
It seems the time is passing by
and with fleeting moments left
I fear there's not much more to do
Unless there's someone else like you
who can direct me back to where I used to be
when I was unaware of the fate and misery
Of the planet we inhabit
I'm starting to regret the point
of ever even noticing the difference
between right and wrong
And they were right when they said ignorance is bliss
now every waking moment I get tired of the same old shit
And now we look upon the face of the man who betrayed
the last remainders of hope, and lived to tell the tale
what keeps him from dying is what keeps us from trying
to find out what happened at all
To find out if it mattered at all

Restless
04:01
|
|||
I used to think that I would be
an astronaut or better
the scientist that made this global system
finally work, but alas..
I just turned out to be a mess
So I've had enough, I'm heading off, I'm setting sail
to leave the mornings to the brave
and trust on nights to give my insanity a name
I hear his call from above,
it's tugging at my sleep
demanding explanations
more than I now see
He dances 'til the morning light
a grin divides his face
and his gaze locks into mine
I'm feeling restless in this place
(this place is driving me insane)
The thought has crossed my mind to give up on the chase
(this place is dragging me straight to the ground)
but you can't have losers if we're all supposed to win
if you say none of us are left
then why are we all still struggling
I used to think that I would be
some kind of bloody scientist
the kind that would make this world
a better place to live
but I've got nothing left to give
The thought has crossed my mind to give up on the chase
but you can't have losers if we're all supposed to win
I don't need a medal of participation
to remind me who I am
I hear his call, I hear him calling out your name
I see his face, the reason I haven't slept in days
and as his gaze locks on to mine
I think I'm running out of time
and I feel restless
I'm feeling restless in this place

For a While
04:45
|
|||
Just for a while, I'd like to see that silver lining in the clouds
and from its glow, absorb some strength to make me last another mile
forget everything I could've said and done
it doesn't matter now, the demons in your head have already won
You could have told me anything, anything at all
now I'm forgetting what you sounded like
and it's burning through my soul
Eyes to the future, but a foothold in the past
we'll build on strong foundations to make sure
the pillars last
Just for a while, I'd like to see that silver lining in the clouds
and blame it for not being there in time
to make you smile again
when you needed it the most
in that moment where you gave up on hope
So don't you ever dare to think that you're a waste of time
even though these thoughts cast shadows on your mind
And just for a while, I'd like to see your face again
just for a while, so we can get shitfaced again
And one last time, I could carry you
one last time, like you carried me
for one last time, I would've carried you home

Downfall of Chrandesyx
01:58
|
|||
It's time we set things straight
Before the illusion fades
And I know this is my dying day
But i've got a few things left to say
About the citizens of this city fair
who live their lives without a care
For this one or the next
Until this day we had it all
and now you'll watch it fall
as I grow weaker in my bed
I'll say with my terminal breath
That I was not a kind man
to stranger or my kin
I watched with delight how the city crumbled
in my rule of sin

Shelter
03:54
|
|||
As you take you first steps into this world
you try your best to keep all the new faces and places
embedded in your mind
But it seems like nothing ever fades
and nothing ever really changes
It feels like you‘re stuck in this rut
and you‘re holding on to what you've got
'cause you've become so terrified
to find out who you truly are
and so you stick to what we know
answering every single question with:
"well, that's just how it goes"
You want to take another break from the rain
and you'll take whatever shelter we can get
you want to take another break from the rain
and you'll take whatever chances you have left
From the day you stepped up and realized
that something wasn't right in here
you could feel it in the atmosphere
the thought had been clawing at your mind
It felt like nothing ever fades
and nothing ever really changes
It's just that we're stuck in this rut
and we're holding on to what we've got
'cause we've become so terrified to find out
what we truly are
and so we stick to what we know
answering every single question with:
"well, that's just how it goes"
We want to take another break from the rain
and we'll take whatever shelter we can get
we will take another break from the rain
and we'll take whatever chances we have left
But we paddle on
way, roll and go
we seek shelter from the rain,
in the places that we know and love
way, roll and go
the tide's coming in,
but the threat is still looming above
way, roll and go
with friends at our side,
it will hardly affect us at all
way, roll and go
we seek shelter from the rain,
in the places that we know and love
